MakoTrac Private Practice Rules & Safety Guidelines

Safety is our number one priority. These rules are designed to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all drivers, officials and spectators. By participating in private practice at MakoTrac, you agree to comply with the following conditions.

1. Safety First

  • Safety always takes priority over lap times or competition.

  • Follow all instructions given by MakoTrac staff and officials immediately.

  • Dangerous or reckless behaviour will not be tolerated.

2. Driver Groups

For everyone's safety, driver categories must never be mixed.

The following groups must practice separately:

  • Bambini

  • Junior

  • Senior

Drivers are only permitted to drive the track allocated for that practice session.

Switching between tracks or entering another circuit without approval is prohibited.

3. Practice Times

Private practice operates during the following hours:

  • Track opens: 10:00 AM

  • Final practice session finishes: 3:30 PM

  • Track closes: 4:00 PM

All drivers must have vacated the circuit by the closing time.

4. Driver Safety Equipment

All drivers must wear protective equipment that complies with the current Karting Australia requirements, including:

  • Approved full-face helmet

  • Race suit

  • Gloves

  • Full covered race boots or enclosed shoes

  • Neck brace (where required)

  • Rib protector (recommended or required for applicable classes)

All safety equipment must:

  • Be in good working condition

  • Fit correctly

  • Be free from damage that may reduce protection

Drivers using damaged or unsuitable equipment may not be permitted onto the circuit.

5. Kart Safety

Drivers are responsible for ensuring their kart is safe before entering the circuit.

This includes checking:

  • Brakes

  • Steering

  • Throttle return

  • Tyres

  • Fuel system

  • Chain guard and mechanical components

Unsafe karts will not be permitted on track.

6. Refuelling

No refuelling is permitted on the asphalt pit area.

Refuelling may only be carried out:

  • In the designated refuelling bay, or

  • On the adjacent grassed area.

Please clean up any fuel spills immediately.

7. Pit Area Safety

The pit area is a shared workspace and must remain safe at all times.

  • Full enclosed footwear must be worn.

  • No riding bicycles, scooters or recreational vehicles through the pit area.

  • Children must remain under adult supervision.

  • Keep pit bays tidy and free from unnecessary hazards.

8. Entering the Pit Area

Karts must never be driven through the pit area.

When returning from the circuit:

  • Stop your kart at the designated out-grid area.

  • Push your kart by hand into the pits.

This rule helps protect pedestrians, children and other competitors.

9. Tents and Pit Shelters

To protect the track surface:

Do not drive tent pegs into the asphalt.

Please secure marquees using:

  • Weight bags

  • Water weights

  • Suitable ballast

Any damage caused to the asphalt may result in repair costs being charged.

10. General Conduct

All participants are expected to:

  • Drive responsibly.

  • Show courtesy to other drivers.

  • Respect officials and volunteers.

  • Keep the venue clean.

  • Dispose of rubbish appropriately.

Aggressive driving, abuse, dangerous conduct or behaviour that places others at risk will not be tolerated.

11. Non-Compliance

Anyone who fails to follow these rules may:

  • Receive a verbal warning.

  • Be removed from the current session.

  • Be directed to leave the facility.

  • Have future practice privileges suspended.

Serious safety breaches may result in immediate removal without warning.
