Changes at Makotrac for 2017

We hope you have all had a great break and festive season. As you know, we don’t email often so we’ll keep this very short. There are a couple of changes at Makotrac for 2017 that we want you all to know about.

  • Price changes
  • Makotrac Racing 2017
  • Addition to the 3 Star Class arriving at the end of March
  • Information for Practice drivers and riders

Price Changes

From the 10th of March 2017, Makotrac, Go Kart Action will be slightly increasing its price. This is the first time our most popular class the 1 Star and Junior Karts have seen a price increase since 2009. We have also changed our yearly membership card to $5. We’ve done our best to keep the prices as low as possible; however, the rise of inflation has forced us to raise our prices. To also justify this, in the past two years we have upgraded our go karts to give you a better and safer experience.

Furthermore, we have upgraded our computer timing and user experience; the feedback has been 99% positive in that regard. We have attached the price list for your perusal, effective 1st March 2017.

Makotrac Racing and kart racing in FNQ 2017!

At the end of 2016, Makotrac and the Mareeba Kart Club sadly parted ways. This is due to both parties not coming to an agreement with their contract. Unfortunately, it has left local karters with nowhere to race other than the Cairns Kart Club or the Townsville Kart Club track. For the Mareeba Kart Club, there is the positive prospect of the club utilising the future track at the Springmount Dragway area.

In addition, The Cairns Kart Club are also looking to build a track very soon. We hope with more go kart tracks in the region, it will mean more karters and more competitive racing for everybody. This has now opened the door for Makotrac to host its own karting races for those who aren’t wanting to travel too far. Our aim is to make our racing as safe, fun and social as possible. We are still in the developmental phase at the moment with regards to how our events will run and licence, but please stayed posted via email. We are aiming for the first race to commence in April. Please stay posted for this. We are in very early days, but we hope to cater for all ages and classes.

Karters, spectators and volunteers are very welcome to join! Like our Makotrac International Racetrack Facebook page for updates.

GoKart Action

New additional 3 star kart arriving at the end of April!

For drivers with the 3 Star rating and above, we are finally getting another Sodi RX250 kart from France! This means now you’ll be able to drive the 3 Star kart with your mate. If you want more information on how you can qualify and drive this kart, please contact us on (07) 40 925 788 or email us at: bookings@gokartaction.com

Information for Practice drivers and riders!

Practice prices will stay the same from 2017 but with the new addition of a $5 yearly membership/track access fee. This membership card will help us communicate with you and speed up the registration process for the day. We’ve listened to feedback from our regular hobby karters and riders about this. All karters will need to have a membership card and all motorcycle riders must have a valid, MA licence. No hobby motorcycle riders are permitted to practice unless it is organised with the Far North QLD Road Racing Club. Also the motard track is not open for any practice days, unless organised with the FNQRRC.
